چکیده

Varying estimates of both present-day strain accumulation and long-term slip rate on the Doruneh left-lateral strike-slip fault, NE Iran, have led to suggestions that it exhibits large along-strike and/or temporal changes in activity. In this study, we make compare measured using geodesy geomorphology, spanning time periods ranging from decadal 100 ka. To image strain, process 7 years (2003–2010) data six ENVISAT tracks covering with interferograms produced for 400-km-long strips long-wavelength signals associated interseismic across locked fault. Our analysis shows less than 4 mm/yr—and likely only 1–3 mm/yr—of accumulates Using high-resolution optical satellite imagery, reconstructions displacement alluvial fans whose surfaces cross four separate river catchments. We determine ages these infra-red-stimulated luminescence dating combined U-series pedogenic carbonates. The vary age ?10– kyr, a regression line fitted yields 2.5 ± 0.3 mm/yr. conclude within uncertainty our measurements, has remained constant over last ?100 ka is representative at present-day. measure consistent E-W fault accommodating N-S right-lateral faulting by “bookshelf” faulting, clockwise rotation about vertical axis.

Using IRSL to determine the slip rate of the Doruneh fault in Khalilabad

Introduction   The left lateral Doruneh Fault System (DFS), is one of the longest, and most prominent, strike-slip faults in Iran, extending from the eastern border of Iran to the central Dasht-e-Kavir with a curved geometry. DFS is the response of the convergence between the Arabian and Eurasian plates in the regional tectonic map. Regarding to scaling relationships this fault with length of ...

offsets along the doruneh fault; implications for dating sampling sites and slip rate determination

the doruneh fault is one of the longest and most prominent faults in iran. however, only two recorded historical earthquakes with magnitudes more than 7 might be related to this fault. for getting more information on this fault more investigation in different fields are required. fault displacement is one of the most important parameters needed to explore the fault activity. in this study, with...

Climate-Human interaction over the Iranian Plateau during the Upper Pleistocene-Holocene: A review

During the past two decades an array of studies have shed light on potential links between the evolution of Hominids as well as Human dispersal out of Africa and episodes of abrupt climate change. Although archaeological evidences suggest that anatomically modified humans appeared in Africa between 200 and 150 ky ago, the timing of the early humans migration out of Africa remained unclear. Stra...

Holocene-Late Pleistocene Climatic Ice Core

Three ice cores to bedrock from the Dunde ice cap on the north-central QinghaiTibetan Plateau ofChina provide a detailed record of Holocene and Wisconsin-Wurm late glacial stage (LGS) climate changes in the subtropics. The records reveal that LGS conditions were apparently colder, wetter, and dustier than Holocene conditions. The LGS part of the cores is characterized by more negative 8180 rati...

Late Pleistocene and Holocene Paleoearthquake Activity of the Olinghouse Fault Zone, Nevada

Paleoseismic trenching and fault surface trace mapping indicate that the Olinghouse fault zone, a northeast trending, left-lateral strike-slip fault located in the northern Walker Lane, Nevada, has been the source of multiple latest Pleistocene and Holocene surface-rupturing earthquakes. A trench exposure near the eastern end of the fault records two, and possibly three, earthquakes after 3360 ...
